I have been praying through the "30 days of Praying the names and Attributes of God" put out by the navigators. It's amazing how each day the Name of God or Attribute dwells on my mind and heart throughout the day.
Yesterday the attribute of God was Self-Sufficient. However I looked at it wrong, I somehow overlooked the “self” and thought it said Sufficient. The first thought that came to my mind was a time when David and I were in Vietnam with some friends on a mission trip. We were invited to someone's home for dinner and they had given us so much food that we were full and really could not eat any more. Nonetheless, they continued to bring food out and we continued to say, that is plenty, that is plenty. I'll never forget the sweet young lady came up to us the next day and with a smile on her face and in her sweet Vietnamese accent she said, "I looked up plenty, it means sufficient". She had thought all the while that we wanted more food. If we will just grasp what the meaning of sufficient is! God is sufficient! He is plenty! He is all we need in any situation. He is all you need if your marriage is in trouble, if you are having financial difficulties, or if your children have you frazzled, tired, and stressed. He is all you need if you are lonely, if you are heartbroken over a wayward child or a broken friendship, or if you are overwhelmed from a stressful job. He is ALL we need. Fall at His feet and allow Him to fill you. Allow Him to bring you comfort, peace, and love. Allow Him to mend your broken heart and calm your overwhelmed spirit. He is not only Self-Sufficient, but He is also our All-Sufficient One. All things are God's to give and all that is given is given by Him and we need nothing other than Him. He is Sufficient!!
As Pastors Wives we have to deal with a lot of “stuff”. Things can get really difficult and sometimes it seems we have no one to talk to and being a Pastors Wife can sometimes be a very lonely place. But in every situation and in every circumstance His grace is sufficient!
